This temple was founded back in 1340 by Casimir the Great. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The tower of the Basilica, on the other hand, has over <strong>70 meters high.<\/strong> Although the original plan was to erect two towers along the lines of the <strong>St. Mary's Basilica<\/strong>. In turn, this plan was not implemented. Today the tower is a notable tourist attraction. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The view from it is simply breathtaking because it covers almost the entire Cracow agglomeration. It was mounded on top of Sowiniec i.e. the highest<strong> hills of the Sowiniec Range<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although the mound itself is only <strong>35 meters <\/strong>this in combination with the aforementioned hill <strong>the total height is more than 358 meters<\/strong> Its construction took place at the end of the interwar period. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the other hand, during the communist era just after the war <strong>authorities tried to remove the mound <\/strong>From the consciousness of Cracovians and the very landscape of the city. Nowadays, it is an amazing vantage point from which one can view almost all of Krakow. It is located in the Podg\u00f3rze district just <strong>next to the right bank of the Vistula<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Its height from the base is<strong> 16 meters<\/strong>. According to legends, the laying of this mound was linked to the figure of the<strong> the legendary ruler of the Poles<\/strong> - <strong>Kraka<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From Wawel Castle, you can <strong>perfectly admire the mound<\/strong>, while from the top of the mound itself <strong>one can see a unique panorama of the<\/strong>.
