However, the place had a completely different face for centuries - it was a defensive zone, full of <strong>walls, moats and towers<\/strong>. It was not until the decision to abolish them that one of Poland's most distinctive urban parks was established.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udca0 <strong>Medieval Krakow behind the walls<\/strong><br>From <strong>13th century<\/strong> Krakow was surrounded by powerful <strong>ramparts<\/strong> with more than <strong>40 towers<\/strong> and several city gates. The whole purpose was to protect the city from invasions - however, over time, the walls ceased to serve their purpose, and maintenance was costly and impractical.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udca0 <strong>Modernity instead of defense<\/strong><br>In the beginning <strong>XIX century<\/strong>, during the Austrian partition, a decision was made to demolish the medieval fortifications. Each of them has a slightly different character and leads through different parts of the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Wawel Garden<\/strong> extends in the southern part of the Planty, closest to the castle. It is here that the park meets the majesty <strong>Wawel Hill<\/strong>, offering beautiful views and a peaceful atmosphere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>University Garden<\/strong>, running by the buildings <strong>Jagiellonian University<\/strong>, is a place full of shade and quiet - popular with students and lecturers for short breaks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Theater Garden<\/strong> is located at <strong>S\u0142owacki Theater<\/strong> i <strong>Slawkowska Street<\/strong>. It is more presentable, often bustling, and leads straight to the bustling center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Station Garden<\/strong>, the closest <strong>main train station<\/strong>, combines the function of transportation with leisure.
